Get Started

Curious about building your own smart home dashboard? You’re in the right place. This section will walk you through everything you need to set up a fully functional Smart Panel — no deep tech knowledge required.

Smart Panel runs on any Linux device with systemd — from a Raspberry Pi with a touchscreen to a mini PC, NAS, or a Docker container on your server. Raspberry Pi is the most popular choice for all-in-one setups with a display, but the server runs on any Linux host.

What You’ll Learn

  • What hardware and software you need
  • Choosing the right deployment scenario for your setup
  • Installing Smart Panel on your device
  • What to expect on first boot

What You’ll Have at the End

A working Smart Panel that connects to your network and is ready to manage your smart home devices — with an optional touchscreen display that boots into a sleek UI.

Smart Panel supports four deployment scenarios:

  • Server Only — run just the backend on any Linux device, with display panels connecting remotely
  • Display Only — add a display panel to an existing server on your network
  • All-in-One — run everything on a single device (great for a standalone panel with a touchscreen)
  • Docker — deploy the server as a container for quick setup with no system-level dependencies
